The dancer

Yesterday I shared with you a city scape with intuitive painting. I felt so relaxed while I applied my acrylic layers and when I created my whimsical houses, that I decided to make another journal spread with the same technique. This time I used metallic acrylics.

I loved all that shining. When I looked at the background it reminded me to the opera and ballett shows, my father used to have season subscription for concerts and operas. He took us as kids to teach us the love of music. I was always amazed by the reach decorations, you know that brass, bronze, gold that have red/bordeaux curtain. It was a breathtaking experience. So my hands draw a silhouette of a dancer on this page. A pretty, magical, subtile figure. I added some shadows with charcoal. I stamped ‘dancer’ with Stampotique Originals Alphabities stamp set and archival ink.

I share my spread with Journal 52 prompt: silhouette.

Oh I LOVE your dancer, Ruth – so stylized and free – and those metallics are gorgeous.

I love this technique and this is another fab page. Have you ever seen the technique where you cover all the page except for certain words which then make a “found” poem that you can illustrate the page with? I actually bought the masking medium so I could do it but as yet…. Here’s an example I found http://karenswhimsy.com/altered-books/cup/butterfly-poem.htm

Tomorrow, the 24-hour plus blizzard hits Boston. Everyone is advised to stay indoors, as travel will be dangerous and even life threatening. It will be my day this week to spend in my studio. It’s on the third floor of our very old New England home with a wonderful view of the lake, though I am not sure under blizzard conditions that I will be about to see the lake–only feet away! I mentioned yesterday that I had purchased some canvas board, so I will be enjoying following your tutorial directions and doing some intuitive paining myself. I love your piece today, Ruth. There is such movement it is amazing! You have so inspired me!!

Thank you Kay, stay indoors and safe dear friend, blizzards can be tricky, I live in a roof loft studio, and well it can be pretty scary, last summer we were hit by a blizzard with hails bigger than a golf ball, we had to run from the roof area where we sleep; we got one straight through and water began to float in like the Niagara, luckily the emergency service arrived the next morning and a week later everything was restored, insurance paid 😉
