I have a song humming in my ears, and it inspired me to make this journal page. One of my favourite singers is Enya, and years back she made a special winter album with beautiful songs, one of them is Journey of the Angels, you can listen to it here. That’s what came out from my soul listening to her melody.
The lyrics are amazing so I will attach the magical words for you:
“Somewhere
In a winter night
The angels
Begin their flight;
Dark skies
With miles to go,
No footsteps
To be lost in snow.
They fly to you
Oh, new-born king
They fly to you
Oh, angels sing
One is sorrow
One is peace
One will come
To give you sleep
One is comfort
One is grief
One will take
The tears you weep
New star
In a midnight sky
In heaven
All the angels fly
Soft wings so true
And all things
They will give to you
Somewhere
In a winter night
The angels
Begin their flight
Tonight
All sing
Oh, angels,
A new-born king
Tonight
All sing
Oh, angels
A new-born king”
I wanted to capture the winter nights and the dark skies. So first I looked for some dark scrap leftovers to create a collage:
Then I coloured my collage with dark blue sparkling Lindy’s stamp gang sprays:
Night sky is usually full of stars, so I added some stars with copper texture paste that I made to pop with black gel pen:
Here is a close-up on my stars:
Then I created my angel, her wings are cut with Sizzix layered wings die from gelli arts print. Her body is a canvas fringe that stretches through the whole page and decorated with some aged silver painted squares. Her halo is golden angels hair.
The title Journey of the Angels are letter stickers. And a part of the lyrics is journaled with black gel pen at the bottom.
Hope you are going to have magical Holidays, wish that little angels will come to visit you to take your grief and sorrow and to bring you comfort and peace tis time of the year!

Oh my, this is superb. I can almost hear the music through your page. My late mother was a big Enya fan and now your art makes me want to hear her again. Glorious work again!
Thanks Lisette! π
Love this series and the pieces you make, this one appeals to me greatly. Love how the background was formed and the copper stars, have not heard of copper paste. Enya lyrics are perfect. Thank you for sharing this series with your art and the links to supplies, songs and book making video, lovely book.
Thanks Jaded, the official name of the copper paste is texture paste copper crackle and it is Finnabair’s art extravagance series from Prima Marketing inc. π
It is fun following your December countdown creativity Ruth.
This piece along with listening to Enya is just heavenly.
Thank you for sharing…
