Brown and blue

Brown and blue isn’t that the perfect match? Just think about the rain that falls from the blue sky and when it hits the ground it becomes brown mud. Coby asked us to create something with brown and blue for the Stampotique challenge by De Craftorij. Here is my take on it:

I coloured my spread with bister and distress inks.

I added some stamping with #2078 Dot swirl.

I stamped my text (France Papillon When your heart #10003) on 7 dots paper with walnut stain distress ink and I stitched it on a piece of cambric with lace. I coloured the cambric with a teabag. I added some brads as well.

My image (Midge #9190) is stamped with the same walnut stain ink on 7 dots studio paper. I made an scrap collage from brown and blue papers. I added some brown thread and a brad.

Finally I splattered some blue glimmer glaze on my spread.

Patty I love bister, to apply it with brush or to draw with it with a pen or simple spread it around and mist it with water, it gives so many different opportunities 🙂

A lovely, distressed page! You’re right, brown and blue do go together. Sometimes we dismiss brown as mud colour, but it can actually be very pretty.

  11. I have To agree with the others…these two colors play so nice together!

    I don’t own an art journal…..maybe someday….

  13. You have used that bister to your advantage, especially since it brings out the perfect brown/yellow that works so perfectly in this spread. I really enjoyed your detail shots and the finished piece is gorgeous.

fantastic vintage page (funny how you wrote bard instead of brad and kept repeating this, speaking of consistency :-))
