Brown and blue isn’t that the perfect match? Just think about the rain that falls from the blue sky and when it hits the ground it becomes brown mud. Coby asked us to create something with brown and blue for the Stampotique challenge by De Craftorij. Here is my take on it:
I coloured my spread with bister and distress inks.
I added some stamping with #2078 Dot swirl.
I stamped my text (France Papillon When your heart #10003) on 7 dots paper with walnut stain distress ink and I stitched it on a piece of cambric with lace. I coloured the cambric with a teabag. I added some brads as well.
My image (Midge #9190) is stamped with the same walnut stain ink on 7 dots studio paper. I made an scrap collage from brown and blue papers. I added some brown thread and a brad.
Finally I splattered some blue glimmer glaze on my spread.
Oh wat geweldig weer, super uitwerking!
Dank u Coby 🙂
mmmmmmmh, scrumptious!!

Wow dat is een goede woord, zit niet op Barcodetext 2, dan is het een nieuwe woord voor Barcodetext 3? Bedankt France! xox
Your choice of using book pages is, once again perfect. I love the splatters and swirls in particular.
Thanks Lisette, xox 🙂
One of my favourite colour combos, and you’ve done great justice to it!
Thank you 🙂
Love the colour combo Ruth and the vintage look. Fantastic spread!!
Thanks Roz, xox
Fantastic. you make it look so easy, and I kbnow it’s not!
Thanks Nigel, it’s really not so complicated 😉
L♥ve everything about your pages Ruth!
That color combo is perfect and you inspire me again with how you used the bister.
I ordered some and am still not sure what I’m doing exactly 😉
Thank you for sharing these lovely pages!

Patty I love bister, to apply it with brush or to draw with it with a pen or simple spread it around and mist it with water, it gives so many different opportunities 🙂
Yummylicious colours, loving the swirls and splatters so much. Great book pages:-) xxx
Thanks xox
I love that color combo too and your pages are wonderful.
Thank you Maron 🙂
A lovely, distressed page! You’re right, brown and blue do go together. Sometimes we dismiss brown as mud colour, but it can actually be very pretty.
Thanks Zsuzsa, xox
I have To agree with the others…these two colors play so nice together!
Thanks Vicki 🙂
Wonderful and unique details!! Love the sentiment!
I don’t own an art journal…..maybe someday….
Thank you Cindy, xox
You have used that bister to your advantage, especially since it brings out the perfect brown/yellow that works so perfectly in this spread. I really enjoyed your detail shots and the finished piece is gorgeous.
Thank you 🙂
fantastic vintage page (funny how you wrote bard instead of brad and kept repeating this, speaking of consistency :-))
Thanks for noticing Vicky, I was busy with my son who decided to have stomachache and didn’t know if he needs to or not to… 😉
Wonderful art journal spread- the feeling evoked by the colors match so perfectly with the focal image!
Thank you Carolyn. 🙂
