Another music inspiration… now I go Irish, what do you think about Enya? Do you remember “paint the sky with stars”? Such a mystical music, I was falling in love with it the moment it came out (yes I am that old). So I just listened to that music and I floated away on my page.
I was beginning with a collage from pieces of music sheet on my spread. I added some shadows with charcoal.
I was blending my collage into my spread with gesso. I used Lindy’s stamp gang sprays (raspberry lemonade and pop rock puprle) to color my page. Then I added some sewing in the shape of music key.
I needed some stars, you know to paint on my sky, so I thought I am going to use Finnabair’s new elemental stencils. I added some modeling paste through the star stencil and I painted them with Inka gold orange.
I colorized a piece of plaster with Lindy’s stamp gang sprays (yellow rose of Texas and wild honeysuckle coral). I stamped Daniel Torrente’s Dance party break up with archival ink and on paper stock colored with antique polish. I splattered some bachelor blue button spray on my spread.
On the other side I wanted to add my title, so I used pan pastel (diarylide yellow) to color a card on which I wrote with gel pen “paint the sky with stars”. I wanted some shadows, so I used again pan pastel to do so (as it works the best on every surface). I added some more stamping on my little card with France Papillon’s splattered mug.
I am sharing my music inspired spread with Stampotique designer’s challenge SDC 160.
Wow!!! Fabulous background!!
Thanks for playing along with my challenge this week!
Thanks Kathi!
I absolutely love this and the way your background is faded- looks like a hazy night sky with those stars twinkling through- so beautiful Ruth!! Looks like vaca suited your muse well!! xoxoxo
Thanks BFF! xoxo
Your design goes so beautifully with the stamp that it feels like you drew in the image rather than stamping it!
Thank you Christina!
Loving those stars and your stitched musical notes are also fabulous. Totally seduced by the names of the sprays too!
Lisette, all the ink sprays are Lindy’s stamp gang. I was beginning to use them recently, well 3 months ago app. and I love them!
Not being familiar with Enya, I immediately felt compelled to Google her and your song title! Truly, her voice is magical. I loved the song, Ruth, and succumbed to its wonder! You have constructed a beautiful night sky in your background, and a perfect background it is for Dance Party! Thanks for participating in the Stampotique Designers’ Challenge this week!
Thanks Kay, xoxo
