New cards for July. Finally after a few days I found a nice evening to sit down and get back to my table and my favorite engagement: creating. I made two cards:
The first one is a butterfly card. I used Prima marketing Seashore paper as background. I applied heavy matte gel through the brick wall stencil and finally I painted it blue with Lindy’s stamp gang flat shot. I added some star stamps with my design cube stamp and colored the distressed edges with chalk edger. I added some red wire thread and finally my butterfly (Prima marketing #562250).
On the other card I added some flowers.
Here I covered a Seashore paper completely with the heavy matte gel that I painted blue with Lindy’s stamp gang flat shot. I colored the distressed edges with chalk edger. I added a half paper dolly and on it created the word ‘hello’ from read wire thread. I added some colorized paper roses and a red leaf. At the right corner I applied some red metal star embellishments.
I enjoyed playing with blue-red-white combo. Here are some more details:
I am sharing my cards with Prima marketings July PPP that you can find in this link. Isn’t that a gorgeous pick for July?
What a great technique using the heavy matte gel and coloring it. Glad you got to spend some time creating.
Thank you Michele!
Love these cards. The blue and red together are a winning combination and the bricks look stunning.
Thanks Lisette š
Ruth, omgosh, these cards are so inspiring! I love how you added the Heavy matte gel through the stencil for the wall! Superb detail! and your choice of elements- love love! xo
Thank you Jackie, you know the butterfly I had it already for 2 years and I didn’t really see it anywhere sitting, but now like it was made for it, wasn’t it? xoxo
Ruth, these cards are just precious! I love everything about them! My favorite is the butterfly! I love the look of those bricks! You said you used matte gel, but they look glossy. Do you use something else as well? Flats don’t have mica or anything like that do they or did they make them shine? Either way, such cute cards!
Felicia the flat shots must be mixed, it’s your choice with what, but this particular blue one I was mixing it with acrylic glaze and soft gel, the acrylic glaze gives the flat shots a shine, I like it, the result is close to the result of the silk acrylics. I love those Lindy’s stamp gang pigments, if you add transparent gesso than you get no shine or glaze, you can add glaze for extra shine or you can add gel mediums heavy for more cover and soft for less. It’s all about experimenting š
love the bricks and the red wire
Thanks Vicky š
