Project lettertype design is about creating a new font. For inspiration we got a list of 12 artists, we needed to choose one and than to create a new font based on his of her art visions. I went for Joan Miró. I loved the interpretation of his works as a sandbox for the subconscious mind or a re-creation of the childlike.
Here are my first sketches based on his works. I tried to follow his style: to pick out certain elements in isolation and detail and arrange them in a composition. You can read more about Miró and see my inspirational board in my post: Project Lettertype design III. https://lerusho.wordpress.com/2013/02/20/project-lettertype-design-iii/

M & B letters à la Mirò

U & R à la Mirò

H & A à la Mirò
I liked the idea of adding the details inside the letters, but of course it can work only in big scale, thinking about 72 point or higher, and I still find it a bit robust. More sketches are coming up…
